Key Fantasy Angles:
- FA Cup winners Palace return with momentum and a proven tactical setup under Oliver Glasner.
- New signings could freshen up midfield and forward rotations.
- Rival clashes with Brighton and late-season North London derbies offer spice but rotation risk.
- Watch-list pick: Jean-Philippe Mateta — could be a draft steal if he kicks off fast.
Draft Strategy Tips:
Palace are one of those sneaky depth-stack clubs. You won’t get many nailed-on starters, but in later rounds hey can return solid rotational value, especially during stretches against fellow mid-table sides. Be wary around GW7-13 when they hit a string of top-half opposition and tough away fixtures.
Verdict
Palace have one of the most emotionally charged fixture lists, thanks to their derby double with Brighton (November 8 and February 7) and a final-day home clash against Arsenal. The Eagles also host Spurs post-Christmas in what should be a raucous Selhurst Park occasion.
Their opening spell is a mixed bag: Chelsea away is a tough start, but they then face newly-promoted Sunderland at home and a Forest side still adjusting to European demands. Watch out for momentum if they string something together early.
Expect this to be a gritty, tactically disciplined Palace side. One that won’t set fantasy leader boards alight, but could offer real value in defensive picks and cheeky home fixtures.
They’re more likely to frustrate the big boys than outgun them, but that makes them ideal FPL spoilers.
